Stroller Strides / Stroller Barre

Can I come to class without my child?

Welcome to the "Empty Stroller Club!" You are always welcome to attend class without your child(ren). Get a great workout and meet your mom friends. You are also welcome to Stroller Strides/Barre if you are pregnant. This is a great way to find your mom village before baby arrives.

What do I need to bring to class?

Yoga mat/blanket or towel, water, sunscreen & bug spray (for outdoor classes), baby essentials including snacks and/or toys for your little one(s), comfortable walking/running shoes (both Stroller Strides and Stroller Barre are traveling classes), appropriate exercise attire, and any kind of stroller.

I just had a baby, when can I join Stroller Strides/Stroller Barre?

You can begin attending class with your doctor's clearance to begin exercising, typically after your six week postpartum appointment.

Can I attend classes if I am pregnant?

Absolutely! We encourage expectant moms to continue to exercise throughout their pregnancies as long as everything has been approved by their physician. Instructors are qualified to lead our professionally designed pre/postnatal fitness programs that follow the latest American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) guidelines. We can modify any exercise that poses a challenge as you progress through your pregnancy. FIT4MOM® recommends you obtain your doctor’s approval prior to beginning Stroller Strides/Stroller Barre. If pregnant, please speak with your physician before your first day.

Exercise during pregnancy has proven beneficial and helps improve or increase the following:

  • Cardiovascular fitness

  • Muscular strength/endurance

  • Energy levels

  • Higher fatigue threshold

  • Posture and biomechanics

  • Circulation

  • Self-esteem, sense of well-being

  • Recovery time

How will I know if the class location has changed due to weather?

In case of inclement weather, outdoor class locations may change. The inclement weather plans are listed for each location here. Follow us on Facebook and check for updates no later than an hour before class starts. We send notifications to clients enrolled in class if the location is going to change.

Do I need a jogging stroller for the workout?

Jogging strollers are not required. As long as the stroller is sturdy, not prone to tipping and all children can be safely strapped into their seats for the duration of class, it will work just fine!

Do I need to be a Runner to attend these classes?

Absolutely not! Stroller Strides/Stroller Barre is for moms of ALL fitness levels. We meet for a warm up, then power walk, jog, or run to each exercise station. You exercise at the pace you feel most comfortable.

At what age can my baby be in a jogging stroller?

As a general guideline, when your baby can hold his/her head up, he/she can ride in a jogging stroller. But, we suggest that you follow your own stroller manufacturer’s guidelines. You can use a head roll and bolster to make your baby even more secure. With shock absorbers and recline features, the age can be quite young.

My baby/child doesn't like being in the stroller for too long, how will this work?

Children are priority, so don't worry if your baby becomes fussy or your toddler gets antsy during class! Our classes are designed to keep the kids moving and engaged by incorporating songs and various props to keep them entertained.

The kids will surprise you!

With that said, if you need to change, nurse or console your baby, please do so (remember, you are in good company). Kids will have good and bad days and we understand that. The kiddos learn the new routine of "Mommy's hour" and learn a few things during our workout too!

How old does my baby need to be to start classes?

Babies and kids can join you at Stroller Strides/Stroller Barre up to any age as long as they can still safely be buckled in the stroller. We recommend waiting until you have medical clearance from your physician (normally this is 6-8 weeks postpartum). Always obtain your doctor's permission before starting this or any other kind of exercise program.

What do I do if my baby gets fussy during class?

That's okay! Sometimes babies cry. You will be in a group full of moms with their kids - we've all been there and we all get it. Absolutely no judgement from anyone!

You're always able to do what you need to do to take care of your little one and, of course, we try to keep things moving so that the kids are happy and entertained. If you need to change, nurse or console your baby, please do so. Bring your baby carrier and snuggle the little on close while you workout. Our instructors have all the modifications you need for a babywearing workout. And don't be surprised, if your instructor offers to push your stroller or hold your baby because they know sometimes you just need a minute to take care of yourself.

Can my older children come to class?

Safety is our first priority. Children under 5 years old must stay in their stroller for the duration of class. Children over 5 years old may walk or ride along on a stroller board/ride-on board attached to the stroller. They can not participate in the exercise. Parents are always responsible for their children.

Body Back

If you become pregnant during the course of your Body Back session, please notify your instructor. We offer FIT4BABY, Stroller Strides, and Stroller Barre as appropriate prenatal exercise programs.

What do I need to bring to class?

A yoga mat or towel for the abs portion and cool down. Plenty of water, and a towel for your sweat. You WILL sweat!

What is the workout like?

Body Back is a high-intensity interval training class that is delivered in one of three ways: Rounds, Circuit or Traveling. We cycle through Cardio, Strength and Core for a full-body workout that provides a significant caloric afterburn for enhanced results. Every class has an intention and finishes with a relaxing meditation.

Do I need to be in great shape to participate in class?

No. We have all fitness levels in our classes! But, we will warn you ... these classes are designed to be tough! Our goal is to deliver a workout that will challenge any fitness level. It might not be easy, but we promise results by the end of your 8 week session if you put in the work!

What makes Body Back and the Fit4Mom Programs different from the gym?

Body Back is so much more than just another HIIT workout! We are a community of moms where you will find support, encouragement, camaraderie and lifelong friendships. Through education, we help you create a healthier home and more active lifestyle for your family. We believe you should be empowered and encouraged to push past your perceived limits and find inner strength while building physical strength. We strive to build you up and put you first to create your BEST YOU.

Do I need to Pre-Register or can I just show up?

For BODY BACK Transformation sessions, pre-register to ensure your spot in the class. Body Back sessions sell out quickly, so you want to hold your spot by registering early.

For BODY BACK Workout classes or drop-in classes, pre-register so your instructor knows to expect you and can contact you if there are any changes to the class. We require a minimum number of clients to be enrolled in order to offer that class. If you cannot make it to class, you need to cancel with at least 24 hours notice or you will be charged for the class.
