Mama of the Month: Annestacia Thompson

We are so excited to showcase Annestacia Thompson as our May Mama of the Month. You'll usually catch her and Ariah up in Alpharetta at Avalon or Halcyon - and always with a big smile on her face. We've been lucky to have her in Our Village since May 2023. Annestacia is one of the kindest and most genuine mamas out there. And if you ever need a musical or yummy food rec, she's definitely your girl.

Get to know Annestacia and her fam below :)

Tell us about your family: My husband Dominique & I met in Lynchburg, Va. whilst I was attending Liberty University in 2009. We’ve been together since, married 6 years before our sweet baby boy, Ariah came along August 15, 2022. We enjoy the outdoors, trying new cuisine (pretty much big foodies and after living in Cali I’d say a bit of food snobs ) and traveling. When at home you can catch us cooking, singing/dancing or engaging in some theatrical moment. I am originally from Jamaica, born and raised before migrating with my parents to Connecticut. I went to college in Virginia, and have lived in North Carolina and California with my husband before settling in Georgia in the fall of 2018. We don’t have immediate family here so having this mom community has been nice, we are enjoying GA and exploring outdoor spaces currently with Ariah walking and talking now.

Hometown: East Hartford, CT

Currently live in: Cumming, GA

Preferred Class Location: Halcyon or Avalon

Current/Previous Career: Mental Health Therapist

I’ve worked with children in classrooms, in-home ABA therapy, and through San Francisco inner city children in classrooms. I was a liaison for college students in San Mateo, California as well, before working with children and families in Gwinnett/ Forsyth counties once in GA before birthing Ariah.

Introvert or Extrovert? A mix of both, I enjoy quiet time at home wrapped in my fleece blanket watching a good tv series (currently Abbott Elementary) or out and about amongst peers having a good time at dinner, in nature or exploring a new town/city.

Tell us something about yourself that would surprise us: ohhh boy!- I love a good musical, you can catch me at home dancing/ singing to West Side Story, The Wiz, Annie, Lion King, Wicked, Hamilton so many to name hahaha.

Favorite exercise: Squats

Must-have baby product: Baby Carrier/ Learning tower (we’re mostly in the kitchen at times so Ariah is right there learning how to cook alongside me or dad).

Favorite Food: ugh too many to name hahaha, but I’m currently enjoying Mediterranean and Peruvian cuisine. However, good ol’ faithful is Jamaican food.

How did you find FIT4MOM? ad on another page I was following on Instagram

What do you love about FIT4MOM? I appreciate the ability to exercise alongside baby and meet other moms in the same season as myself, it gives me the ability to get exercise in weekly and not have to worry about childcare.

What does motherhood mean to you? It means being fully present for Ariah and loving him always. Even the hardest of days are forgotten when holding him in my arms. It’s family, happiness, love and contentment. It’s a powerful gift and a joy to be raising a small human.

What makes you proud of your own mom? I’m proud of my mom for utilizing her gifts and talents to provide interior decorating, & flower arrangements once migrating into the United States/ working hard at obtaining her bachelors and masters degree (currently working on doctorate) and holding down a job for over 23 years with Bank of America. She has shown me how to be a good steward of my gifts and talents, and that I must put in the effort for what I want because things don’t come easy.

We women are unstoppable and can truly do anything we put our minds to!- We rock!
